Dog Walks Pty Ltd

For those of you who have read “Baggy’s Story”, you will know the inspiration behind Dog Walks Pty Ltd. Essentially, in July 2007, my family and I were granted permanent residency of Australia and so our frantic move plans began in earnest. One of the first things I looked at was how to bring Baggy over (the rather laid back looking chap in the photo here). I did the Import Permit paperwork myself, found someone to actually fly him over and then turned my attention to his time in quarantine. I read on the information on the DAFF / AQIS website that dogs were not walked during their 30 day stay and it was down to the individual to arrange. Not easy when I wasn’t even in the country yet and I couldn’t bear the thought of him being stuck in a kennel 24/7 for 30 days and without even a cuddle!

I had to find a dog walker myself. From sunny Essex, England I began to surf. Who could guess by the way that Eastern Creek is west of Sydney. Time differences and lack of familiarity with the regions made it a nigh on impossible task and I thought then that there had to be an easier way.

We arrived in November 2007 and in April 2008, I formed the limited company Dog Walks Pty Ltd, obtained an Australian Business Number (ABN), created the website and began recruiting in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. We really wanted to offer a pan-Australian service so as to make things easier for people coming from overseas irrespective of their chosen quarantine station.

We quickly added Cat Cuddles to our service too – we know they don’t need walking but cuddles, brushing and treats are always good !

Today we have an awesome team and together we are Dog Walks. Have a look at our Meet the Team page to know more about us. Our team is hugely experienced in handling animals as you will see from their profiles. We have RSPCA staff, vetinerary nurses and groomers as part of the team that walks and loves your pets in quarantine. The company structure and the experience of our team combined give you the confidence to trust in Dog Walks Pty Ltd and its people to care and love your dog or cat whilst in Australian quarantine. Quite honestly, and we are very proud of it, we are unique.

Four years on and we are lucky enough to have walked and visited literally hundreds and hundreds of fur families. What a privilege to be the first to truly welcome these gorgeous migrating pets in their new country! And the wonderful feedback we receive from our owners is just the icing on the cake.
